meet niall.
I have moved around a lot in my life. I was born and raised on a farm in rural British Columbia, in unceded Tsilhqot’in territory. My teen years were then spent in the Sacred Valley, in the heart of the Peruvian Andes. In 2014, I moved to the beautiful town of Squamish, in unceded Sḵwx̱wú7mesh territory. In Spring 2020, I graduated from Quest University Canada with a Bachelor of Arts & Sciences. My focus was on film, Indigenous studies, and storytelling. Around this time I also released my debut documentary film, Where do we stand?.
Why do I draw attention to these places?
The places we grow up shape us. I have a strong sense of place and a strong appreciation for the Indigenous history of those places. I carry myself through the world with the respect and generosity I learned in my different homes. Recently, I returned to my home in the Andes. I am however, living a nomadic lifestyle; traveling between Peru, Sḵwx̱wú7mesh territory, and Tsilhqot’in territory. I am working to teach youth media and foster relationships between different Indigenous communities of the north and south. I want to experience the world and to encounter new perspectives, so that I continue to grow as a person.
I am always working to refine my craft. I am a multifaceted artist and storyteller; my interests currently lie with film and photography. I also have a passion for the written word, both as a writer and an editor. I like working to create and I live to share that creative process with those around me.
